National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Established in 1896, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is one of the world's leading advocates of fire prevention and an authoritative source on public safety. NFPA develops, publishes, and disseminates more than 300 consensus codes and standards intended to minimize the possibility and effects of fire and other risks. NFPA membership totals more than 81,000 individuals around the world and more than 80 national trade and professional organizations. National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) NEMA is the trade association of choice for the electrical manufacturing industry. Founded in 1926 and headquartered near Washington D.C., its approximately 450 member companies manufacture products used in the generation, transmission, and distribution, control, and end-use of electricity. NEMA's mission is to promote the competitiveness of the U.S. electrical product industry through the development of standards, advocacy in federal and state legislatures and executive agencies and the collection and analysis of economic data. National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) NICET provides universally recognized certification for all individuals in engineering technology and related disciplines. Since the institute was founded in 1961, more than 125,000 technicians and technologists have met NICET's rigorous certification criteria, and the number grows rapidly as more employers and local and state governments rely on NICET certification to measure the qualifications of their workforce. The Center for Campus Fire Safety (CCFS) The Center for Campus Fire Safety is a non-profit organization devoted to reducing the loss of life from fire at our nation's campuses. The mission for the Center of Campus Fire Safety is to serve as an advocate for the promotion of campus fire safety. The center serves as the focal point for the efforts of a number of organizations and also as a clearinghouse for information relating to campus fire safety. United States Fire Administration (USFA) As an entity of the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency, the mission of the USFA is to foster a solid foundation in prevention, preparedness, and response by providing national leadership to local fire and emergency services. Safer Buildings Coalition (SBC) The Safer Buildings Coalition is an independent, not for profit organization providing thought leadership and education focused on advancing policies, ideas, and technologies that ensure effective in-building communications capabilities for public safety personnel and the people they serve.
