Q: I forgot my password. How do I request a new one?
A: From our homepage, navigate to the login section. Click on "Reset Password" and an e-mail will provide you with a link to reset your password. Please note, this link does expire after 24 hours.
Q: I'm trying to reset my password but when I request a reset password link, I'm not receiving the e-mail. It's not in my spam folder either.
A: If you are trying to reset your password, but you're not getting an e-mail or receiving a blank e-mail, this means that your e-mail address is in the system already but not set as your username. We have to adjust this on our end, so please e-mail us at [email protected] and we will fix it for you. We will also send you another reset password link so you can gain access to your profile.

Join us for two 90-minutes sessions to review the basics of risk analysis and methods to satisfy the requirements for Mass Notification System risk analysis.

Fire Alarm Inspection and Testing based on NFPA 72-2016
This basic application course reviews the requirements for fire alarm systems testing and inspection; how to perform the tests properly; and how to conduct visual inspections in order to satisfy the requirements of NFPA 72, The National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code.
When? Tuesday January 12th and Thursday January 14th 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM (EST)
Cost? AFAA Members: $250 AFAA AHJ Members: $150 Non-Members: $400
Receive a certificate for 7 contact hours of continuing education.
Must attend part 1 and 2 to qualify.

Instructor: Art Black is the Principal at Carmel Fire Protection Associates, Carmel-by-the Sea, California – a consulting firm for fire prevention program management, fire detection and suppression system plan review and inspections, fire investigation, and development of quality fire protection training programs. Previously, Art served as a firefighter and fire marshal at Carmel-by-the Sea Fire Department and is a California State Certified Chief Fire Officer and Community College Instructor – Supervisor. He is a principal member of the technical committees for NFPA 72, 720 and 3.

Fire Alarm Plan Review
This application course describes some of the common issues associated with the plan review process and offers suggestions for improvement. This is addressed by providing plan review and acceptance test checklists, battery and voltage drop calculations, reviewing proper spacing of detectors and notification appliances.
When? Tuesday January 19th and Thursday January 21st 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM (EST)

Instructor: Larry Rietz, SET, has over 30 years of construction industry experience, the last 25 spent designing, commissioning, testing, and inspecting of fire alarm, mass notification/emergency communication, and related life safety systems. Larry currently serves on the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) Board of Directors as Secretary.

NICET Preparation - Level I & II Fire Alarm Systems
This 14-hour course will take an in-depth look into the codes and standards referenced by NICET for fire alarm certification. The course is designed for anyone considering or preparing to take a certification exam or simply seeking additional knowledge of the codes and standards governing fire alarm design, installation and general work practices. The interactive nature of the course delivery and practical exercises will improve participants knowledge of the use and application of NFPA 72, the NEC, and the building and fire code requirements for fire alarm systems.
When? Monday January 25th & Wednesday January 27th AND Monday February 1st & Wednesday February 3rd 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM (EST)
Cost? AFAA Members: $475 AFAA AHJ Members: $275 Non-Members: $800
Receive a certificate for 14 contact hours of continuing education. Must attend all 4 parts to qualify.

Instructor: Tom Hammerberg is an independent contractor and retired from the Automatic Fire Alarm Association in June 2017 and continues to present seminars nationally. He has been in the alarm industry for 44 years and was with AFAA for 23 years, serving as President/Executive Director and Director of Industry Relations. Tom is NICET Level 4 certified in the field of Fire Alarm Systems and is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist.

Basic Fire Alarm Systems
This basic application course is beneficial for new or experienced installers, sales personnel, service technicians, plus building and fire inspectors involved in acceptance testing and/or plan review. Topics include a review of system fundamentals, components, battery set and voltage drop calculations, initiating devices and notification appliances and fire safety control functions.
When? Tuesday February 9th and Thursday February 11th 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM (EST)
Cost? AFAA Members: $250 AFAA AHJ Members: $150 Non-Members: $400
Receive a certificate for 7 contact hours of continuing education. Must attend part 1 & 2 to qualify.

Instructor: Merton Bunker has 32 years of engineering experience, including seven years at the National Fire Protection Association as staff liaison to NFPA 72. He is active in codes and standards development and is the Chair of the Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property Correlating Committee. Merton is a licensed professional engineer and a certified master electrical inspector.
